The parish of St. Augustine and Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is a vibrant faith community sharing the love of Christ throughout Jeffersonville and Southern Indiana. As a community of faith, we believe that everything God has given to us is intended to serve His divine plan. As part of our gratitude toward God and our commitment to live as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we share our time, talent and treasure to build up the Church and make our world a better place. Ministries at St. Augustine & Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish
Coffee & Donuts
VolunteerChairperson: Pam Canter
Fellowship opportunity after the 8:00 Sunday Mass at St. Augustine. Parishioners gather for a sweet treat and conversation in the Parish Hall.
CCJ Quilters
Join us!Chairperson: Denise Seis
The Quilters of the Catholic Community of Jeffersonville welcome anyone with talents in quilting, sewing, crochet, or crafting as well as anyone interested in learning these skills. This group meets weekly on Tuesdays to make quilts for parish events or individuals as well as to make crafts to support parish ministries through its annual craft sale.
Young at Heart

Open to adults of all ages, the group gathjers the first Monday of the month for fellowship, a guest speaker, and a pitch-in luncheon. This gathering is in St. Catharine Hall at Sacred Heart and begins at 11:30 a.m.
Eucharistic Adoration
VolunteerChairperson: Veronica Prechtel
This ministry is dedicated to providing opportunities for parishioners to encounter and pray before the Blessed Sacrament including morning, daytime, and evening times.
Rosary
VolunteerChairperson: Dorothy Kelly
This ministry organizes parishioners to lead the congregation in the Rosary starting 30 minutes before each weekend Mass.
Two other groups meet weekly to pray together:
Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m., temporarily in the Sacred Heart Cry Room
Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Chapel with Adoration
Altar Servers

Servers light candles, hold the books, handle the vessels, and arrange the liturgical cloths. This ministry is open to all young men and women grades fourth through 12th. Servers should be registered parishioners and must commit to serving one Mass per month.
Lectors

Lectors proclaim the readings from Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel. They may also announce the intentions for the general intercessions and, in the absence of the cantor of the psalms, read the psalm between readings.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

EMEs are fully initiated Catholics who are deputed to assist the priest with distributing Holy Communion during Mass, to bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound, and to give viaticum to the dying.
Greeters/Ushers

Ushers and greeters are the first face of our parish. Ushers and greets should be welcoming and friendly to all parishioners and visitors arriving for Mass. These parishioners assist with the collection, finding
Sacristans
VolunteerThis ministry prepares the worship space for its celebrations starting with setting the Eucharistic table for Mass.
Music Ministry: Choir
Learn MoreDedicated singers lead the assembly in a variety of hymns. A strong commitment and faithful attendance are asked of all who participate. Prior music experience is helpful but not required. Rehearsals are on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
Music Ministry: Cantors
Learn moreCantors provide leadership and encouragement for the full participation of the congregation in sung prayer. Requirements include the ability to sing on pitch, sing solo music, and help the assembly learn new music. Musical background and the ability to read music are helpful.

Church Cleaners: St. Augustine
VolunteerChurch cleaners at St. Augustine meeet at 9:00 a.m. on Thursdays, following the 8:00 a.m. Mass. This group is responsible for preparing the santuary spaces for worship on Sunday.
Heavenly Dusters: Sacred Heart
Church cleaners at Sacred Heart meet at 9:00 a.m. on Fridays, following the 8:15 a.m. Mass. This group is responsible for preparing the santuary spaces for worship on Sunday.
